Alright, so I feel I should explain something.
Let me begin by making clear that I generally dislike Disney on principle. Walt Disney I'm sure was a great guy, but the corporation today is bent on market domination and getting every last cent out of every last patent they can wring out of their products. They'll take a good idea, and twist it until it fits their little pattern and then beat it to death for public entertainment. Lately they have been taking old ideas out of the home for venerable, ancient, and respected cartoons, and beating them to death as well. I can think of only 3 or 4 disney movies made in my lifetime that I enjoyed as a kid, and even though they are fairly well done, they still follow much of the standard disney formula. The Lion King, Aladin, and I even liked Beauty And The Beast. But even those are filled with the mind infecting work of Alan Silvestri. Who is Alan Silvestri? He is the bastard who comes up with all those Disney songs that get stuck in your head for YEARS. Bah.
Now, that being said...Lilo and Stitch. When I first saw the previews, I thought they looked amusing, but I was sad to imagine a good idea gone to waste by crappy Disney writing. So I put it out of my mind like I do every other piece of stupidity that Disney feeds the underage population.
But my sister Anne, who has (almost) always been able to talk me into trying things, tells me that I have to see it. I didn't hesitate much, because I did enjoy the previews. And I was very impressed. It still followed parts of the disney formula, but it was a lot different than I expected. It was insane, in an actually amusing way, and still cute, and had a story about friendship that I thought was really touching. I dunno what it is...but I like that movie. I really like that movie. I have to say it is not only my favorite animated movie, but one of my favorites of any movies. Of course Disney has had to make its attmpts at beating it to death with its Stitch! the Movie, and the followup to that, the Lilo and Stitch tv series. But recently they came out with a new movie that was actually on par with the original! Since then I have tried to catch the tv show, for no other reason than to get more stitch. The writing isn't as good, but it has its moments. Some episodes are...wrong...different, and awful. But some of them aren't as bad as I had feared. I intend to see the Stitch! Movie eventually, and also the movie yet to be released that is supposed to conclude the Tv Series called Leroy and Stitch. Anyway, I've ranted about this long enough.
